Out of Hours
Gwent Out of Hours - 111.  For emergencies only: to be used when you cannot wait to see your own GP the next working day. The on-call doctor will return your call to assess your need from the service.  Should you be visited at home please identify your house by switching on your outside light or keeping an eye out for the medic car.

A minimum of 48 hours notice is required to issue repeat prescriptions and must be received in writing. Tick the items you require on the repeat prescription counter-foil and drop it in the box found on the surgery wall near the main entrance. You may also drop your repeat into your local pharmacy but this may take longer to issue.  Please note we do not take requests for repeat medication by telephone.


Charity events and Important News


 'TURNING PINK' - On Friday 11th October we held a fundraising event in aid of the new Breast Care Centre in Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.  We would like to say a massive thank you to all our friends, family, and patients for their support.  We raised a massive £1580.

In aid of the new Breast Care Centre at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, Aber Medical Centre is 'Turning Pink' on Friday 11th October 2019

We are holding a raffle with lots of lovely prizes:-

  • 1st prize a Luxury Hamper
  • 2nd prize Prosecco
  • 3rd Prize Luxury Scented Candle
  • Runner up prizes 

The tickets are on sale at each surgery and at Morris Pharmacy Abertridwr and are £1 each. Raffle tickets will also be available on the day of the event and the draw will be held at 4pm.

Morris Pharmacy are holding a 'Guess the amount of sweets in the Jar' and this is 50p a go!!

Also, on the day of the event we will be having a cake sale, and tombola with lots of prizes.  Please join us in raising money for this wonderful cause.



RCGP Practice Awards

Aber Medical Centre was nominated as Practice of the Year 2018 by our patients.  We are proud to say this is the second year running we have been nominated.  This is a wonderful achievement for the Practice and we are all very proud and grateful to be once again nominated.

Also, our wonderful Senior Partner, Dr Kaushal was also nominated as GP of the Year award.  Dr Kaushal is very honoured to have been nominated by the patients and wishes to thank everyone that nominated him.

We would like to say a massive thank you to every one of our patients who support us, and appreciate the hard work we all put in to providing you with the best care we possibly can. Thank you all!!


South Wales Argus - Practice of the Year Awards 2017

Aber Medical Centre was nominated for the Practice of the Year award 2017 as a result of patient nominations.  We are proud to say we were runners up for this award.  We would like to thank all our patients that nominated and voted for us, we are extremely humbled by your kind thoughts and remarks.  The nomination is a great honour and everyone was overwhelmed with the recognisation.
